The Information Technology, Inc. Bulk Filing Module (BFM) increases the efficiency and accuracy with which an institution handles its on-us demand deposit items. The module reduces the number
of fine sort passes required, automatically pulls exception items that need special attention, and generates a report to help verify the number of items to be sent with the customer statements.
Many of the time-consuming procedures associated with document control are eliminated by
using the Bulk Filing Module.

Cycle Sort
The ITI bulk filing process involves sorting daily on-us demand deposit items according to account statement cycles, rather than by account number, and takes place after point of deposit capture
and the daily update. Each statement cycle is assigned to a specific pocket on the reader/sorter
or proof machine. After the items are sorted by cycle, they are bulk filed into cycle trays.
Statement Rendering
When statements are printed, the items within the designated cycle tray are fine sorted by account number. A digital fine sort, modular fine sort, or a directed fine sort can be used, depending on the type of proof system. A modular or directed fine sort normally reduces the number of passes required to sort items into account number order.
Increased Accuracy and Efficiency
The Information Technology, Inc. Bulk Filing Module automates many processes that were
manually controlled by the proof department. This automation decreases opportunity for human error, and in turn, increases the level of accuracy. Additionally, by eliminating the daily in-filing process, institutions will find time is saved in the labor intensive activities associated with handling customers checking account items.
Multiple Proof Machines
Multiple proof machines or reader/sorters can be used for bulk filing and statement rendering,
with separate sets of specifications for up to nine machines per institution. Each proof machine
has a unique number of pockets, exception pocket, non-selected pocket, truncation pocket, and statement cycles and books.
